Being one of the last 50 finalist for Charlie Sheen’s #tigerbloodintern really got me thinking recently. Currently, there are a TON of businesses that are looking to hire entry-level candidates to help them get a piece of this new fad called new media. Just do a simple search on “social media” in the jobs section of CraigsList.org and you’ll see how big the list is. You have companies paying money to put up ads, spending time going through applications, interviewing these people, and then making a decision. This takes up a lot of time in the long run, and as we all know, time = money. So I recently applied for a position at Centercode via Craigslist as a marketing manager. What motivated me apply for this position was mainly the fact that I entailed doing pretty much everything I love doing in the Internet Marketing sphere. For those of you who have not heard of Centercode, odds are you have came across a company that they have worked with. Centercode is a Beta Test Management company. In a nut shell, what they do is help companies manage the beta test of any products they want to release for the future. So for example, if Apple wanted beta-testers to test out their 2nd generation iPad, they would come to a company like Centercode to manage the campaign as well as find quality beta testers for that product. Although Centercode may not be a household name, they have help run beta tests for Dell, Apple, HP, Google, and more (See complete client list HERE). It is 2001, I am sitting in front of my TV in my living room witnessing Jin clench his 7th victory on 106 & Parks freestyle friday. I remember being excited as hell seeing an Asian American make his mark on an industry dominated by mainstream media. What stunned me even more was when he pulled out his pendent showing the “double R’s” revealing that he was going to be signed by Ruff Ryders. At that point in time, I thought nothing in my head but one thing: “This man was going to make it”.
