JYJ Showcase in LA

Because of some awesome friends, I had the pleasure of getting invited to the JYJ showcase in Los Angeles on Friday night. In all honesty, I had absolutely NO IDEA who this group was. So basically, this group is made up of Yoochun, Jaejoong, and Junsu use to be a part of a bigger group in Korea named DBSK. DBSK was extremely popular internationally during the early 2000′s and they actually hold the record for having the largest fan club in the world. As time went on, a part of this group branched off and formed JYJ this year. After hearing countless positive views about this group from a lot of my friends, I decided to go to the concert and see if JYJ lived up to its hype.

I got into my car and drove from Orange County to Los Angeles around 5pm. A what was suppose to be a 1 hour drive went up to 2.5 hours because of the bad traffic I ran into getting there. My Top Dishes After the Club

1. Pho Tai – Probably the most popular Vietnamese dish. Pho broth with rice noodles served with rare steak slices. Once served, I usually squirt a little bit of sriracha hot sauce, Oyster sauce, and a CRAP LOAD of lime.Then ask for a side of fresh onions, drizzle some sriracha sauce over it and you got yourself a BOMB late night meal.

My Experiences Growing Up Asian American

up russell My Experiences Growing Up Asian AmericanOne of the biggest things I remember most about growing up is my struggle with my cultural identity. I grew up in a very traditional Chinese family where I would be woken up by the smell of incense every morning and hear my family downstairs chattering away in Cantonese. While I was in elementary school, I remembered that I HATED being Asian. I was jealous of the white kids who seemed to have it easy with their parents. They would get “sent to their rooms” at home while I would be sleeping with an icepack on my face to keep the swelling down when I got in trouble.
